Things to do with the kids over Easter!

#1 Make pizza and cake in a cup

Lunch was a doddle today, number 1 son made it himself – with supervision, of course.

For his first course he had pizza made in a mug then for his second course he had chocolate and blueberry cake made in the same mug after he’d washed it out!

We followed the recipe from the Blue Peter website where there is a video to watch but here are the basic instructions:

Pizza in a mug

What you need...

4 tbsp flour

1/8 tsp salt

1/8 tsp baking powder

3 tbsp mild

1 tbsp oil

Spoonful tomato based sauce

Grated cheese, peperoni or whatever topping you like

How it's done...

1. Put the flour, salt, baking powder, oil and milk in the mug and mix very well

2. Add the tomato based sauce followed by your desired toppings and cheese

3. Put in the microwave for one and a half minutes

4. Leave to stand for 2 minutes before eating

Cake in a mug

What you need...

1 slice of butter (approx. 30g)

6 squares of chocolate

1 egg

2 tbsp caster sugar

5 tbsp flour

½ tsp baking powder

5 blueberries

How it's done...

1. Melt the butter and chocolate carefully in the mug

2. Add the egg followed by the sugar, flour and baking powder.

3. Mix really well in the mug

4. Add the blueberries

5. Microwave for 1 ½ minutes

6. Allow to stand for 2 minutes before eating

This is a genius way to get kids cooking, so easy and not much washing up (because we all know who ends up doing that)…..win, win!
